MyCheck by Credibled, for Uber drivers in Ontario

Uber background check in Ontario, with your own CRJMC

The Uber background check in Ontario happens every calendar year. Most drivers go through Uber's vendor, Triton, which takes 3 to 5 days. You can also send your own documents: a criminal record and judicial matters check (CRJMC) and a 3-year driver record. MyCheck gets you the CRJMC online, and most checks complete in minutes.

For Uber rideshare drivers. MyCheck Level 2 is the enhanced check that covers what Ontario calls a CRJMC. Identity verification is included. MyCheck is a private Canadian provider and is not affiliated with Uber.

2 ways to pass the Uber background check in Ontario

Your situation

Triton or your own CRJMC?

Both routes end with a screening Uber accepts for the year. Here is when each one makes sense, and the 2 cities where neither is enough on its own.

In a hurry

Your own CRJMC

Triton takes 3 to 5 days. Most MyCheck checks complete in minutes, so your CRJMC can be ready to send today. Add your 3-year driver record from ServiceOntario and contact Uber Support. $49.

No rush

Triton, through Uber

Most Ontario drivers use Triton. It starts from the Uber app, takes 3 to 5 days and uploads your results automatically. You do not need MyCheck for this route.

Police only

Ottawa and Windsor

On top of the yearly screening, Ottawa asks for a one-time police vulnerable sector check (Level 3), and Windsor asks for one every year, sent within 30 days of issue. Only a police service can issue it, so MyCheck cannot.

Delivering with Uber Eats instead? Delivery screening runs through ISB or Triton, and your own check does not replace it. See delivery app background checks.

Step by step

How to send your own documents to Uber

The own-documents route takes 4 steps. The CRJMC is the part you can finish today, from your phone.

  • 1. Order your CRJMC

Order MyCheck Level 2 at $49. Enter your legal name as it appears on your driver's licence. Most checks complete in minutes.

  • 2. Get your 3-year driver record

Uber calls it a driver abstract: the 3-year driver record search from ServiceOntario. You can order it online.

  • 3. Contact Uber Support

Uber asks drivers who supply their own documents to contact Uber Support, who uploads them for review. Send the PDF as it arrived, not a screenshot.

  • 4. Repeat every year

New and existing drivers pass a background screening every calendar year. Order a new CRJMC and driver record when your next screening is due.

Steps from Uber's safety screening page, checked 4 November 2026. Questions about Triton go to Triton, not MyCheck.

FAQ

Uber background check questions, answered

Can I use my own background check for Uber in Ontario?

Yes. Uber's Ontario rules give rideshare drivers 2 options: screening online through Uber's vendor, Triton, or supplying your own criminal record and judicial matters check (CRJMC) with a 3-year driver record from ServiceOntario. With your own documents, you contact Uber Support to upload them for review. Uber decides what it accepts.

Which MyCheck level do I need for Uber?

Level 2. It is the enhanced check that covers what Ontario calls a criminal record and judicial matters check: criminal convictions, outstanding charges and warrants, discharges within their disclosure windows, Youth Criminal Justice Act findings and court orders. Level 1 is not a CRJMC. Compare the levels in full.

Does my CRJMC have to come from the police?

Uber's Ontario page asks for a CRJMC. It notes that your local police department may charge a fee, but it does not say the check must come from the police. MyCheck certificates are issued by an accredited police service. If you are unsure, ask Uber Support before you order, because checks are non-refundable.

How recent does my CRJMC need to be?

Uber's safety screening page says within 90 days of the issue date. Its Toronto sign-up page says 30 days. Send it within 30 days to be safe.

How long does an Uber background check take?

Through Triton, Uber says 3 to 5 days. With your own documents, most MyCheck checks complete in minutes and the rest are usually back within 4 hours. A small number need fingerprint confirmation, which takes longer. Uber then reviews what you send. Read how long a criminal record check takes.

Do I need a new Uber background check every year?

Yes. Uber says new and existing drivers in Ontario must pass a background screening every calendar year. If you supply your own documents, order a new CRJMC and driver record each time.

I drive in Ottawa or Windsor. Is a CRJMC enough?

No. Ottawa asks for a one-time vulnerable sector check (Level 3) on top of the CRJMC and driver record. Windsor asks for one every year, submitted within 30 days of issue. Only a police service can issue a vulnerable sector check, so MyCheck cannot cover it. Read our guide to vulnerable sector checks.

Can I use this for Uber Eats delivery?

No. Uber says delivery screening runs through its vendors, ISB and Triton, and its delivery pages do not offer a way to supply your own check. This page is for Uber rideshare drivers. See delivery app background checks.

How much does it cost?

MyCheck Level 2 is $49, with identity verification included and no access fee. ServiceOntario charges its own fee for the 3-year driver record. Uber's page lists no fee for the Triton route.

I drive in another province. Does this apply?

No. Uber's rules differ by province, and outside Ontario the documents it names are different, such as a police vulnerable sector check in Alberta or a police judicial record in Quebec. Check Uber's page for your province before you order anything.
