RCMP criminal record check, searched online
For a job, a placement, a volunteer role or a rental, an RCMP criminal record check usually means a search of the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records. MyCheck runs that search online through an accredited police service, which issues your certificate. No station, no fingerprints, no form to post.
Asked for fingerprints, or need it for immigration or a visa? That is a different check. See which one you need before you order.
Have your ID, your most recent Canadian address and a card ready. Checks are non-refundable once submitted.
There are 2 kinds of RCMP criminal record check
Both involve the RCMP. They are ordered differently, based on different things and used for different purposes. Most people need the first one.
Name-based check (MyCheck)
Fingerprint-based certified check
If the person asking said "fingerprints", "certified" or "for immigration", you need the right-hand column, and this page is not the place to order it. If they said "criminal record check", "police check" or "RCMP check" for a job or role in Canada, the left-hand column is what you need.
Where to get an RCMP criminal record check without the station
You do not have to visit a detachment or a police station for a name-based check. Here is what you get by doing it online.
Start my checkNo appointment, no fingerprints.
No booking, no station, no ink. Start on your phone and finish there.
Most checks complete in minutes.
The rest are usually back within 4 hours. In a small number of cases a name-based search cannot be resolved and fingerprint confirmation is advised. We tell you straight away if that applies.
Straight from the national record.
An accredited police service searches the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records through the Canadian Police Information Centre. That is the national record itself, queried by police.
ID verification included.
Your government ID is matched to a live capture before the search runs. A record search is only as good as the identity behind it, and this is in the price, not billed on top.

What an RCMP criminal record check looks like
Your result is a dated certificate in 3 parts, issued by an accredited police service. It goes to you, not to an employer, and you decide who sees it.
- 1Applicant informationThe legal name, date of birth and address the search was run against, and the type of ID used to verify you.
- 2Criminal record checklistThe result, stated against the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records. Nothing found reads Negative here, and Cleared as the overall result.
- 3Issuing agency informationThe police service that issued it, the date issued, the serial number and the issuing officer's ID. This is what makes it stand up when someone asks where it came from.
A criminal record check is a point-in-time search. It reflects the record on the day it was run.
Start my checkBased solely on the name and date of birth provided, and the criminal record information declared by the applicant, a search of the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records did not identify any records.
Issuing service
Level 1 or Level 2?
If the organisation asking has named a level, order that one. If not, Level 1 is what most job applications ask for. Level 1 answers whether you have a conviction. Level 2 also answers whether anything is currently outstanding.
Neither level is a vulnerable sector check or a fingerprint-certified check, and neither can stand in for one. Compare the levels in full
Which check do you need?
Most jobs, agencies, landlords and general volunteer roles accept a name-based criminal record check, which is what we do. Two other checks get asked for, and only police or an accredited agency can issue them.
Name-based criminal record check
Your name and date of birth searched against the RCMP National Repository by an accredited police service. Accepted by most employers, staffing agencies, landlords and general volunteer roles.
Start this checkVulnerable sector check
Roles working with children, seniors or other vulnerable people need a vulnerable sector check. Only the police service or RCMP detachment that polices where you live can issue one, or the Criminal Records Review Program in BC. It may involve fingerprints.

Immigration, visa and citizenship applications, record suspensions and most uses outside Canada need a fingerprint-based certified check from the RCMP. Our check also does not include convictions recorded by the Canada Border Services Agency or US Customs.
